For most people loosing weight is hard but in this blog I will show you how to lose weight easily and keep it offLarge Bruce feb 2010.

When my ex wife asked me to go. Leaving behind her, which was hard, because, well I asked her to marry me on our second date and I was still madly in love with her, Judy, 27 years later. So I departed Judy our three totally awesome children, the dog, cats, doves hens etc and moved into a bachelors pad. Once ensconced  I started to comfort eat & my weight ballooned from 14 stone 89Kg to well over 16 stone about 104 kg . For those who don’t know, when I asked Judy to marry me I was doing reasonably well our first house was a 4 bed Georgian farmhouse in 4 acres with splendid views. I went on to be a multi millionaire, then made a few poor decisions and those coupled with a few unlucky breaks finished up going bankrupt, no money, no me. You can read more of my story on my website

As you can see from my picture taken at the end of February 2010 I was quite rotund! Not a great advertisement for ‘health’ . So I decided to do something about my weight.

Now as most people who have been on a diet will testify around 90% of diets don’t work. Which I think I’ll cover in another blog. Now I could also say eating healthy ditto. To lose weight you’re going to have to change we might as well make the it a healthy change. However I will cover it in two parts.

One what is your ideal weight? For all my adult life I’ve been around 14 stone at that weight the morning suit that I had made for me when I got married still fits perfectly. However I was reading Lewis Hamiltons story and he’s my height just under 5’11″ and he’s really muscular, this picture doesn’t do Lewis justice. However it was the best available at Dreamstime, where you can buy stock photos. Also my son Adam has just got a scholarship into the Royal Marines he’s 21 soon, he’s really toned as well & both of them weigh 10.5 stone Wow.

I had to reconsider what was the right weight for me, based on those two I need to be under 11 stone. Aged 16 I weighed 12.5 stone but was heavily muscled. So a total rethink was required. What I considered normal for me, 14 stone, which felt fine, was in fact 3 stone, yes 3 whole stone 42 lbs overweight!

So what is the right weight for you?

What does it look like?

What does it feel like?

How would you move when you are that weight?

Get a picture of either when you were that weight or someone you would like to emulate, cut their head off (in the picture only) and place your head on top of the body you desire.

Two identify why you want to lose weight. For me there are several reasons, being fit and healthy is one, so that I have a surfeit of energy to do all that I have to do with plenty of energy spare for fun. Being lighter feels better as Kate Moss said ‘nothing tastes as good as feeling thin.’ To make a big change we need a big reason. I was having lunch with a friend and recently and she’s having trouble with her knees and she had a hip replaced last year and ‘Jane’ wishes to lose a stone before she goes in for surgery and having trouble losing that. If her target was to lose 4 stone, which is probably nearer the mark if  ‘Jane’ wanted to be toned i.e. a much bigger target she would have more success. However if your real goal is to lose 14lbs that’s fine.

Three eat when your hungry, if we wait till we’re ravenous we will eat more.

Four prepare your food with love. At first glance you might think ‘prepare your food with love’ is slightly strange. However for most people who are overweight they have a love hate relationship. They like the feeling of been satiated but do not like food, feeling that food is a ‘problem’. Well if we look at this logically we need food to live, so food is wonderful. If we eat too much why blame the food?

Next week we’ll continue this, for now I’ll leave you with food for thought!

I’ll show a picture of me now 3 stone lighter!

Till then Lol Bruce

Some really useful pointers raised here. I think I’ll dig out a photo of me at when I felt good and looked good (if only I’d known it then!), and pin it somewhere so I can look at it everyday.

Can’t wait until the next instalment!

Thanks, those are really useful and incredibly true. I’d argue that 90% of our weight issues are in our minds – how we see ourselves, what we think is right and wrong and how we then behave as a result.
There also are some physical aspects, which can easily be supported as well.

Agree Sandra, our thoughts control not just our weight, but also our health & wealth, in fact our whole lives.
